Cooking in Berlin

After moving to Berlin, I went through five stages of grief when I painfully discovered that boneless chicken thighs are not available in the supermarkets here (things you get used to living in the Bay Area/US).

The nearest Market Hall and butcher shop require a slightly out-of-the-way trip.

So now I buy the bone-in chicken leg and have learned to cut it up (without sulking) myself.

This, and no we’re not crazy:

Cooking a Peshawari Lamb Dish

In a ‘lost in translation’ kinda situation, I ended up buying really expensive lamb meat.

The ‘namak mandi karahi gosht’ is now being cooked from a one-of-its-kind Icelandic lamb, apparently the “purest” lamb breed (Vikingyr).
